Anti-Fraud Policy
MelBet seeks to earn your confidence and trust by staying committed to a safe and reliable betting experience for our patrons. Fraudulent activities compromise our platform’s integrity and cause issues for our genuine players. Here’s how we deter, detect, and address fraud activity. Also included is our policy and the expectations of the user.
Scope of This Policy
This anti-fraud policy is applicable to everyone who uses MelBet services, including visitors, account holders, and third parties interacting with the platform. This policy identifies all activities that constitute fraud, deception, and/or manipulation during account registration, identification and verification, transfer of funds, bonus payments, and betting activities. MelBet reserves the right to pursue and take any measures concerning suspicious fraudulent activities, including account suspension, fund seizure, and reporting to the relevant authority.
Types of Fraud We Monitor
MelBet actively identifies the following types of fraudulent activity:
- Identity fraud — Using falsified, stolen, or third-party identity documents during registration or verification
- Multiple accounts — Creating more than one account per individual to exploit bonuses, promotions, or betting markets
- Payment fraud — Using stolen credit cards, compromised e-wallets, or unauthorised payment methods to deposit funds
- Bonus abuse — Systematic exploitation of promotional offers through coordinated accounts, hedging strategies, or violation of bonus terms
- Match fixing and insider betting — Placing bets based on non-public information or participating in the manipulation of sporting events
- Money laundering — Using the platform to process funds derived from illegal activity or to obscure the origin of funds
- Collusion — Coordinating with other users to manipulate betting outcomes or share confidential account information
- Chargeback fraud — Depositing funds, using them to place bets, and then initiating a chargeback through the payment provider
Detection Methods
Both automated and manual methods are used to detect suspicious activity on the platform. They include the following:
- Automated transaction monitoring — Real-time analysis of deposit, withdrawal, and betting patterns to flag anomalies
- Device and IP tracking — Detection of multiple accounts linked to the same device, IP address, or browser fingerprint
- Behavioural analysis — Identification of unusual betting patterns, including sudden changes in stake size, market selection, or timing
- KYC verification — Required checks to validate a person’s identity claim against specific external databases to which the querying authority has access
- Third-party fraud prevention services — Integration with solutions providers that fraudulently compromise payment instruments, and maintain a database of payment instruments and known fraudsters
- Manual review — Fraud analysts specializing in the verification of potentially fraudulent activities or customers
Consequences of Fraudulent Activity
MelBet considers the severity and type of confirmed fraud and takes one or more of the following steps proportional to the fraud committed:
- Immediate suspension or permanent closure of the account
- Forfeiture of all balances, including deposits, bonuses, and pending withdrawals
- Reversal of any transactions associated with the fraudulent activity
- Reporting to relevant law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies, including the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), where applicable
- Sharing of information with other licensed operators to prevent the individual from committing fraud on other platforms
- Pursuit of legal action to recover losses caused by the fraudulent conduct
All determinations made by MelBet regarding fraudulent activities are not open to further review. If users feel like they were the victim of a mistake, they have the option of submitting an appeal and the necessary evidence.
